Welcome to my Wednesday thoughts! (Poor you.)
Yet Another American Pie Movie
Looking alive, number five! It's not a super shock that these movies keep coming out, since these are the biggest hit for most of these pie-humping actors. But, then I thought, with a modern movie with so many of the same recocurring characters over a long period of time, why stop at child-bearing age? Why not keep going?!
Maybe the 'American Pie' sequels when they're all in retirement homes will be really, really thought-provoking.

Wouldn't it be awesome if, rather than getting poorer in quality, these movies got better? The foreign exchange student becomes a diplomat in a shifting political environment? The band geek woman has four children, but is tragically diagnosed with tuba-induced lip cancer at the age of 43? Stiffler really does turn out to be homosexual? You guys, I can keep going. My dorkiness has no limits.
Draw Something
I'm into it. If you don't know what it is, it's an app for drawing and watching your opponent struggle with your port artistic skills.
The proper nouns are mega-tough. I still can't believe I watched Wayne's drawings of basketball players and not guess LIN. Go out there and find me as fatnatbonattynat!
Grand Central
Tracie and I discussed the new Grand Central logo:
Our thoughts:
- Yeah, the clock is iconic.
- I like the colors, and it's very crisp.
- But it looks a bit like clip-art.
- What about the movement?
- The people?
- The history?
- The buzz, the celestial bodies on the ceiling, the sense of urgency and fate and self-determination and New York City glamor?
- It's missing a lot.
- The blocky logos on canvas bags and posters reminds us too much of the New Museum or that Fashion's Night Out thing:
- We think it could have been better. :/
On Remorse
Sqoot. They screwed up, got called out, apologized part-way, then felt really bad about it after their sponsors backed out. I'm not emotionally prepared to let this one go yet. We're less than one week away from the guilty verdict of Dharun Ravi, yet what have we learned?
There should never be an excuse for ignorance. Your actions online, negative and positive, insults and apologies, all count. Tell your peers, kindly but firmly, when they screw up. And absolutely listen to them. Friends, I invite you to call me out if I cross the line.
